In the Greek cuisine, different types of meats are used in various dishes. It is an essential part of Greek food and they create different delicious recipes with it. Many restaurants in Moriches use several types of meat such as pork, rabbit, lamb, fish and poultry etc.
Different dishes that
use meat as an ingredient are:
Avgolemono – It is a
soup which is made of different ingredients like lemon, egg, fish,
rice or chicken etc.
Gyros – It is
usually served as a sandwich. It is made of tzatziki sauce, onion,
potatoes, tomato, mustard and pork or chicken etc. In different
countries, this dish has different types and materials.
Giouvetsi – It is a
type of baked pasta, which includes main ingredients like pasta,
tomato sauce, garlic, onion and bay leaves with chicken, beaf or
lamb.
Pastitsio – It is
another type of pasta which includes ground beef, egg, tomato and
cinnamon with béchamel sauce as a layer. This dish is usually served
in main course.
Moussaka – Moussaka
is one of those Greek dishes that are popular all around the world.
It is a type of casserole, which is served warm but not too hot. In
some places, people cool it down to room temperature before eating.
It’s ingredients are tomatoes, eggplant with minced meat. Béchamel
sauce is also used in it.
Kreatopita – It is a
meat pie which usually is made of tomatoes, garlic, oregano, fennel
leaves, lamb, rice, onions, pepper and olive oil. It is served cool
after cutting in pieces.
Souvlaki – It is
usually served as a sandwich made with pork, fish or chicken with
lots of vegetables. It is made with various sauces and mustard and
wrapped in pita bread giving it a look of sandwich.
Bougatsa – Bougatsa
is Greek pastry, which is very popular in people. It is made from
phyllo dough, cheese, cinnamon and meat. It is usually served hot
into pieces.
Savridia – This
grilled food is made with fish which is high in oil. It is known to
taste like sardines.
Stifado – Stifado is
usually made of rabbit or beef, with cinnamon, onions, cheese,
oregano and tomatoes etc. Red wine is also used in this recipe as an
ingredient.
Keftedakia –
Keftedakia is made in various countries. It is usually made of lamb
or chicken, which is fried and served with tzatziki or yogurt.
One can easily find
these dishes in Greek food centers in big cities. This cuisine is not
only tasty but also healthy.
