New York, situated in the Northeast of United States has a population of 8.4 million, which makes it the seventh most populated state in the United States. You can easily find Chinese, Koreans, Indians, Australians, French, Greek, Japanese and many more. Many of these communities have established restaurants, and as a result, a number of cuisines are on offer. The variety varies from Chinese, continental, Mughlai, Italian and Greek etc.
Some of the unique characteristics of international cuisines are as follows:

  • Tuscany – One of the cuisines in the world where fresh fruits, vegetables, cheese are used. All these ingredients are boiled and re-boiled.
  • Lazio – The Jewish influence is seen in this cuisine. One of the prominent dishes of this cuisine is ‘spaghetti’.
  • Campania – In this, usage of tomatoes, onions, peppers, potatoes, lemons and oranges take place. The best and well-known example is mouth-watering “Pizza”

  1. Greek Cuisine – It is also known as ‘Mediterranean cuisine’. The common ingredients in Greek food are Olive Oil, oreganos, garlic, ginger, etc. Lentil Soup is evidence from the ancient Greek.
  • Breads – Eliopsomo, bread with olives, Karydopsomo, bread with raisins, Lagana, and Pita (bread with walnuts are the most common breads consumed)
  • Appetizers and salads – Kalamata olives, Macedonia, and Melitzanosalata (the most common salad available in restaurants across city)
  • Cheese

Have you tried the delicious Greek food?


Despite of knowing the adverse effects of junk food, we all love eating it. But have we ever thought to change this of our eating habit with healthy one.
However, via exercising, eating raw vegetables and fruits one can stay healthy. But, one who is food lover, for him or her it’s hard to stay long on tasteless food. These things can only be done by celebrities, sports personalities etc. A layman cannot carry out this diet chart for a long time.
The best alternative for this is Greek food. If you are residing in NYC or any other town in America for that matter, and want to start on with a healthy diet then you must definitely try out Greek section of food. If you are wondering, which dishes to try in it, then following is list of few-
The most popular Greek dish is kotopoulou lemonato, which is also known as lemon chicken. Made with fresh chicken, sliced roast potatoes, freshly squeezed lemons and seasoned with salt, oregano etc.
Another Greek dish, which spells bound, is Yemista. Peppers and tomatoes stuffed with rice and roasted in olive oil with potatoes and little onion tomato sugar.

Although Moussaka is slightly less healthy, but very popular. This is because it is made with layer of fried potatoes and layer of minced lamb topped off with a bechamel sauce and cheese, which makes it full of calories. As roasted food stuffs are healthy, therefore, before serving, it is roasted in the oven for 30 minutes.
