Enjoy the rich taste of international cuisines in New York


New York, situated in the Northeast of United States has a population of 8.4 million, which makes it the seventh most populated state in the United States. You can easily find Chinese, Koreans, Indians, Australians, French, Greek, Japanese and many more. Many of these communities have established restaurants, and as a result, a number of cuisines are on offer. The variety varies from Chinese, continental, Mughlai, Italian and Greek etc.
Some of the unique characteristics of international cuisines are as follows:
  1. Chinese Cuisine-
The first thing, which comes to our mind, is ‘Chinese Noodles’ and usage of ‘chop sticks’. There are number of restaurants in New York City serving soups, rice rolls, fried green vegetables. There are other dishes as well related to Chinese cuisine and mainly divided into two:
    1. Medicinal Food – These cuisines have an influence of prolonged life and revitalizing energy.
    2. Minority Food – These cuisines are the ones that have their own flavor according to their region.
  1. Italian Cuisine –
One of the best things about Italian cuisine is that it contains only five to seven ingredients only. Its simplicity differentiates it from other cuisines. Some of the types are described below:
  • Liguria – It includes herbs and vegetables and Pasta, it is one of the product, which is known worldwide.
  • Tuscany – One of the cuisines in the world where fresh fruits, vegetables, cheese are used. All these ingredients are boiled and re-boiled.
  • Lazio – The Jewish influence is seen in this cuisine. One of the prominent dishes of this cuisine is ‘spaghetti’.
  • Campania – In this, usage of tomatoes, onions, peppers, potatoes, lemons and oranges take place. The best and well-known example is mouth-watering “Pizza”
There are number of Italian cuisine counters in Midtown, Murray hill, West Village in Manhattan, New York City.
  1. Greek Cuisine – It is also known as ‘Mediterranean cuisine’. The common ingredients in Greek food are Olive Oil, oreganos, garlic, ginger, etc. Lentil Soup is evidence from the ancient Greek.
  • Breads – Eliopsomo, bread with olives, Karydopsomo, bread with raisins, Lagana, and Pita (bread with walnuts are the most common breads consumed)
  • Appetizers and salads – Kalamata olives, Macedonia, and Melitzanosalata (the most common salad available in restaurants across city)
  • Cheese
Greek cheese has a handsome demand in New York. Hand-made cheese is produced by local restaurateurs, which helps to improve the quality of Greek Food and it makes sure that best Greek food is served in NYC.
